Class Blog Topic Option

Obviously we all want to have a topic we can relate to, and a topic that will also be interesting to read other classmates perspectives. I was thinking that one topic our class might like is "The Freshmen Experience". This topic has a lot of different components, such as, being away from home, the start of classes, living with friends, having less boundaries, and how all of that is affecting us. This topic can continue to be talked about in the blog for a lengthy period of time, and I believe everyone in class can relate to it.  When you think about the "freshmen experience" every topic or situation really gets down to being young and kind on your own for the first time. Even with there being more mature in age classmates, they can think back to when they were 18 or 19 years old and talk about their experiences.

Maybe we can think of something more outside of the box? I do like the topic, but maybe we can get a little more personal. What do you think about "Your first Date" or " First Driving Experience" maybe even "Who was your very first BFF and why?" The reason I am asking is because if we get more personal with students lives , then we can get more of a feel of what kind of person they are in person or in blogs.

Also you have to consider not everyone "went away" for college . So in that case not everyone had new boundaries , or lived with friends. A lot of students commute these days because prices of dorms are expensive and or they have families.

Good idea. Everybody in the class can relate to this topic and everyone has experienced it.

I agree with Justice. I think that this would be a great topic because, as you point out, there are so many aspects of the freshman experience that we could address. Even non-traditional students are still experiencing freshman issues and can bring an interesting perspective.
